the history   The mansion was first renovated by Jim Williams, a local antiques

dealer who was also featured as a central character in the famous non-fiction novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Williams transformed the structure into several apartments, but the house was then purchased by the Sprague family and restored to its single-family configuration. This second restoration project, carried out by J. T. Turner Construction, was awarded numerous honors for historic preservation, including the statewide Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s annual award. The current owner is Robert Duffy, co-founder and president of the Marc Jacobs international fashion empire, who has lovingly maintained this elegant southern gem while using it as a venue for lavish entertaining.
